Care Reasons

A care reason captures why someone needs care — a hospitalization, a loss, a new baby, a crisis, or any other life event that calls for your church’s support.

Care reasons give your team context. When a volunteer makes a follow-up call, they can see that Margaret is recovering from hip surgery — not just that they have a call to make. This leads to more meaningful, informed care.

  1. Go to Care Reasons in the sidebar, or click + on the dashboard and select New Care Reason.
  2. Fill in:
    • Title — a brief summary (e.g., “Hip replacement surgery”)
    • Description — additional context and details
    • Member — who needs care
    • Date of event — when the event happened
    • Assigned to — the primary person coordinating the response
  3. Click Save.

After creating a care reason, create tasks for the specific actions your team will take — hospital visits, meals, calls, etc. The member’s care timeline ties everything together.

When the care need has been met (the member has recovered, the situation has stabilized), mark the care reason as complete. The history is preserved on the member’s profile for future reference.
